This is a hefty, dramatic mini. A lot of fun to paint. I had been drifting out of mini painting but now I'm stoked to be back into it, thanks to this one.

When it arrived, one of the feathers was broke and my system of using poster putty to mount on a jar lid for holding while painting kept failing (it's a heavier mini) and once when I picked it off the floor, it was missing part of an antler. Both my parents were biologists, so I think it's realistic that animals be banged up. For the broken antler, it took image search and a few seconds to make it realistic. Prefer it this way actually.

Wish it were standing taller because it's easy to imagine one of my middle schoolers will be tempted to make comments about its butt sticking up. Hoping they'll be too awed to notice.
